Automakers’ Responses to the California Wildfires

February 10th, 2025 by

Here at the Casey Auto Group, our hearts go out to all those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Though our group of automotive dealerships are located across the country from the affected area, many in our region are military members with connections to the Los Angeles area. It gives us hope to report that several automakers have stepped up to the plate and offered various types of support to the Los Angeles area.

Automakers’ Contributions

Casey Auto Group is home to several dealerships, including those that sell Honda, Toyota, BMW, Subaru, and Chevrolet models. This is an overview of how those automakers have helped with wildfire relief:

  • BMW is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross.
  • GM has announced that its OnStar® Crisis Assist Services will be made available to all capable vehicles and owners in California affected by the wildfires. It’s also providing vehicles to the Red Cross, deferring payments for affected customers, and providing assistance toward the purchase or lease of a new vehicle for those who lost their cars.
  • Honda has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to help them provide food, shelter, and other assistance to those who have been displaced by the fires.
  • Subaru donated $50,000 to Meals on Wheels and another $50,000 to the ASPCA. It’s also working with local dealerships to deliver supplies and goods to those in need.
  • Toyota contributes annually to The American Red Cross and SBP, with these funds utilized to support recovery efforts when disasters strike around the nation. Additionally, Toyota is matching contributions for donations made by U.S.-based employees to support The American Red Cross, SBP, and other eligible nonprofits.
  • Several automakers are offering payment relief options to affected customers. These include extensions and deferred lease payments.
